RingMUD is a long-running project of mine whose goal is to produce a Java-based MUD engine with a feeling similar to DikuMUD. I’ve been working on it since high school on and off over the years. Often times, I will come back to it with no real idea of where I left off. It makes it rather hard to figure out what’s going on sometimes. The main things left for this project to get into beta are:

  • Finish the effects system so that different abilities for classes and items can be made.
  • Create some basic player classes.
  • Clean up a lot of code to remove various bugs and make it easier to read.
  • Add the ability to save and load characters as well as the world state.
